Sculptra (FDA approved 2004) is an injectable cosmetic filler that can be used to restore facial volume lost due to aging or illness. It contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible synthetic substance that stimulates collagen production. Facial fullness is present for 5-7 days. Patient must perform 5 minutes massage/ 5 times a day for 5/days to have desired results. Depending on treatment goals some patients may require ~ 2-3 treatments of 2 vials each treatment to address areas of concerns and we recommend an annual vial to "access & refresh". Expect ~20% improvement per session. Final results take up to 3-4 months to appear since the body is building your own collagen Sculptra is contraindicated for those with most autoimmune disorders including Lupus, Sjogren’s Syndrome, and rheumatoid arthritis. Ahead of treatment Avoid Aspirin, ibuprofen, Aleve, or any other blood-thinning medication and herbal therapies one week before your session This is a non reversible agent, the body will clear this product over 2-5 years, failure to perform massage can result in undesirable results. I do not provide first time consult and treatment to clients on this service.
